People hope for more US help after Biden’s visit

“The American vice president’s visit means a lot for the people of Moldova. Perhaps after this visit the USA will offer us more economic help and political support”, thinks Veronica, a woman from Chisinau. Alongside nearly 10,000 people, she attended US Vice President Joe Biden’s speech in the National Opera and Ballet Theater Square, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Victor, another resident of the capital, after Biden’s visit, bilateral relationships between Moldova will be more productive and open towards cooperation. He thinks that as a result of this event, more countries will find about Moldova’s existence and its importance for Washington. Elena from Durlesti, student at the State University of Moldova, hopes the USA will offer more financial assistance. She wishes Moldovan citizens could travel in the US without visas and, if they go there, to return home one day. “It’s an opportune visit and our politicians should draw some conclusions. I know the capitalist way of life. There, you have to work a lot to live decently. It’s not a bad thing we strive to capitalism”, said Arcadie from Chisinau. He advises authorities to promote Moldova more intensively and to tell the international community that Moldovans want a better life. Nearly 10,000 people, many of whom came from districts, attended Joe Biden’s speech. The event was monitored by 3000 policemen and 100 Moldovan and American special agents. Joe Biden came to Chisinau after meeting with Moscow officials. In Russia, he declared he would come to Chisinau with a message of support for Moldova’s integration in the European Union and to communicate the White House’s position regarding the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
