People protesting in central square of Chisinau invite population to protests

Representatives of the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau call on the population to unite and to take part in the planned large-scale protests so as to bring about changes in the country. The call was made in a news conference at IPN.

“We will stage activities that will enable us to really make the change, with the participation of the whole country,” stated Ion Rata, a member of the protesters’ Coordination Council. The activist said that a series of activities were planned and these will be within the law.

Ion Rata noted that four Great National Assemblies that involved possibly even 100,000 people were held during almost a year. “The people showed their dissatisfaction and wish to change things in the country. Regretfully, no state official came to these protests. Given that there were voters in the Square and none of the elected officials wanted to meet the people, this is a slap given to these people,” stated the activist.

The head of the Pensioners Union Victor Leanca called on society to take to the streets. “We request in a loud voice: Wake up, dear people! Don’t accept to be bought,” he said.

According to Victor Leanca, the parties split the people and now society should unite and show that it is a force. The state power was usurped and this thing should not be supported in continuation. “Society will find ways to resolve the problems for the benefit of all the people in Moldova,” said the Union’s head.

Another members of the protesters’ Coordination Council Anatolie Petrici said that society should realize that a part of the taxes paid by the people go to repay the billions stolen from the banking system.
