PGO: Proposals concerning prosecution service reform were intensely discussed

The opinions and proposals concerning the prosecution service reform were intensely discussed and explained and the Venice Commission endorsed the given draft law, press officer of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) Maria Vieru said when commenting on prosecutor of Chisinau municipality Ion Diacov’s assertion that the bill on the prosecution service will not change the situation and will enable to commit new abuses, IPN reports.

“Mister Diacov stated his opinion. He exercised his freedom of expression and this means that there is internal democracy in the Prosecutor’s Office,” stated Maria Vieru.

In a news conference earlier today, Ion Diacov called upon the MPs not to adopt the bill on the prosecution service in the current form in the final treading as this way the prosecution service would be destroyed, new abuses would be possible and entities that could be used as political cudgels would be created.
