The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) reacted after interloper Vitalie Proca gave an interview, saying that in 2012 he shot businessman German Gorbuntsov by order of Vlad Plahotniuc. The PGO said it is analyzing all the reports, including the information that appeared in the public sphere, and will inform about the pace of investigation when new elements appear, as it did earlier, IPN reports.
“The Prosecutor’s Office recently provided details about this case, immediately after new evidence appeared and this was also transmitted to the foreign partners that take part in the investigation of this case. As we repeatedly informed, an investigation has been conducted for several months, including into the attempts to obtained false statements from detainee Proca, who was sentenced in Romania. A number of persons are suspected of remediating an understanding between the detainee and another person involved in the murder attempt on German Gorbuntsov, understanding for which a part of the initially agreed sum was paid,” said the PGO.
In an interview for Jurnal TV channel, which was filmed in the Jilava Penitentiary in Romania, Vitalie Proca said he fired at businessman German Gorbuntsov by order of Vlad Plahotniuc, but the murder attempt failed. “The order was made by Plahotniuc. I don’t know how the rest of the world sees him, but I consider him a career criminal and I know what I say. He found me in a moment when I had financial difficulties. I could not repay a debt and they offered me to do this,” said the interloper, adding he was visited by a number of persons who tried to persuade him to declare that the murder was ordered by Renato Usatyi.
