PL demands creating commission for penalizing ‘uneducated’ MPs

The Liberal Party suggested setting up an ethics commission that would penalize the lawmakers who make offensive statements during the Parliament’s sittings. The suggestion was made public by MP Corina Fusu during an exchange of replies between Communist lawmaker Sergiu Sirbu and Liberal MP Victor Popa, Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Popa, head of the parliamentary legal commission for appointments and immunities, was presenting a bill. Asked by Sergiu Sirbu about certain provisions, Victor Popa said he did not hear about them. Sirbu advised Popa to wash his ears and the latter asked bringing in handkerchiefs for the Communist MP. Corina Fusu intervened, saying the Communist lawmaker is uneducated. “It seems to me that we all have those ‘seven years of education given at home’, except for Serioja Sirbu. It means that one should be correct, honest, respectful towards those who are elder and more competent and professional and should not profit from others’ work,” she said, implying the Communist MP lost those seven years when he joined the PCRM. Corina Fusu also said that the PL will put forward a bill to create a commission that would punish the MPs for the verbal attacks and insulting statements. Sergiu Sirbu said that this commission should have been set up when Victor Popa called all the Communists ‘fools’. “Why didn’t you make such a suggestion then?” asked Sergiu Sirbu dissatisfied.
