The Liberal Party (PL) has started its election campaign. The party’s first deputy president, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Thursday went out in front of the City Hall together with the PL’s candidates for municipal councilors in order to present their platform. The Liberals’ slogan for the elections in Chisinau is: “Together with Dorin Chirtoaca for Chisinau”, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will have a powerful, solid and honest team in the Chisinau Municipal Council. We have a team of professionals that will change the face and content of Chisinau till the end. Together we will succeed,“ said Dorin Chirtoaca. He spoke about the priorities of the PL’s team at the City Hall and in the Municipal Council. He said that there will be created at least 20,000 workplaces. The infrastructure will be modernized by rehabilitating the roads and lighting the streets. The housing stock will be renovated. The PL’s representatives also promised to combat poverty and support the socially underprivileged groups of people. “We will continue to pay compensations for heat, of at least 40% of the value of the heat bills, social benefits and compensations for trips by public units of transport to pensioners on low incomes,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The supporting and financing of the suburbs is another priority. The suburban settlements during the next four years will receive over 1 billion lei. Until now, they were allocated at most 600,000 lei. Oleg Cernei, who recently joined the Liberal Party, tops the list of the PL’s 52 candidates for municipal councilors. He is followed by the vice director of Grand-lift SRL Ion Gabura and head of Rascani district Mihail Carlig. The list also includes the executive director of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights Teodor Carnat and director of Ruta-Prim SRL Iurie Topala. Dorin Chirtoaca said that after he submits the documents to be registered as a candidate for mayor of Chisinau for the second tenure, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu will take over and will hold the post of mayor on an interim basis. The PLDM and PCRM opened their election campaigns the same day.
