The Liberal Party proposed that the division heads of Chisinau Municipality should be appointed only by the Mayor, and not by the Municipal Council. The proposal was put forward at Friday’s meeting of Parliament by PL, but PLDM didn’t support the inclusion of the initiative on the agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports. Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu, told the press the issue was an old one. “A year ago, we put forward two draft laws concerning local public administration and the status of Chisinau Municipality. We were supported neither then, nor now”, he said. Ghimpu added that division heads were part of the executive power. “You imagine if a division head is named by the CMC? They could block a Mayor’s activity”, said the Liberal. Valeriu Strelet, leader of the PLDM faction, said that he and his colleagues were ready to examine the Liberals’ project, but on one condition: that the PLDM project on the MPs' entrance in the Parliament building is included on the agenda.
