Plahotniuc says he doesn't aim for PM post
“I don't aim for the post of Prime Minister, even though I have all the skills required for that. I say this without any shadow of doubt, because I know very well my capacities, unlike those who occupied earlier this post or are currently occupying it”, said Vlad Plahotniuc during a program on Prime TV, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“In my opinion they just pretend to govern, they don't really know how to do it”, he said.
Plahotniuc went on to criticize the current government leaders: “We should not expect that such a government will be able to solve all of our problems. In fact, this government is our problem”.
Speaking about his plans as a prospective legislator, being number two on the Democrats' slate for the upcoming elections, he said: “I will direct my skills and energy toward improving the economic legislation and the public administration, and at strengthening ties with our country's partners”.
Being a successful businessmen, Plahotniuc says he sees things differently than most politicians. “They look for political excuses for the crisis facing society today. However, I consider the government system to be responsible for that. I'd rather not go into details right now, but there are sectors where the mechanism of financial distribution doesn't work and there are sectors where there's no knowledge and experience; elsewhere, there's no enforcement discipline, and so on. But most importantly, there's a lack of a consistent attitude toward the resolution of key problems.
“Officials are often unprofessional and irresponsible, looking to satisfy their personal interests first. This is the root cause of corruption, of half-measures, of stagnation. Eventually, our people feel betrayed and regard democracy as anarchy, where those who are in power can do anything they desire”.
Vlad Plahotniuc thinks that it is wrong to look eastward or westward for the source of all our troubles. “I believe it is time to stop fomenting the public opinion in a hunt for internal or external foes. The source of all our troubles is here in our home, on all levels, from top to bottom, and especially in the central government. This is why Moldova should be governed by people with rich managerial experience”, he stated.
