The political parties from one extreme or another desperately promote the geopolitical subject for securing votes, but the Moldovans must feel free in Moldova, believe in what and who they want and must not allow being manipulated and associated with a particular group, said the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc.
“I follow the subject of the greater split in society that is promoted by political parties that are desperate to secure votes, either they are from one extreme or another. I think the people must feel free in our country, be as they want, believe in what and who they want. Not the parties must tell them what to feel and even make them believe in what is suitable for these parties,” Vlad Plahotniuc stated for the paper “Timpul” (“Time”) in an interview.
According to him, the country’s people are not so different and divided as it seems. They must not allow being manipulated and associated with a group or another. About him, he said that he grew up on the bank of the Prut River, but feels close both to Romanians and to Russians. “Each of these peoples has good things. There are good models that we can borrow from the people of the European states or the U.S.,” said the politician.
In the same connection, he noted that everyone has something good of which we can make use and it is in the interest of the people to think so. “Let’s be realistic. We are too small to be able to choose between the great world powers with which we want and with which we do not want to cooperate. We must be pragmatic and friendly,” concluded Vlad Plahotniuc.
