The Platform “Dignity and Truth” announced its decision to merge with the People’s Force Party (PFP). The decision was taken in the meeting of the Great National Assembly Council. The name of the new political entity, its objectives and the members of the executive bodies will be agreed in the December 13 congress of the People’s Force Party. The announcement was made in a news conference at IPN.
“We will make effort, together with the members of the People’s Force Party, to build this political alternative. We are discussing a number of issues, including the current situation in Moldova and the election of the party’s executive bodies and are to agree the party’s name and future objectives,” said the head of the Great National Assembly Council Andrei Nastase.
According to him, the desiderata of the two entities mainly coincide. “We are from a civic platform, they are from a political platform and I think we can build a nice symbiosis so as to meet the expectations of the population and the protest movement,” stated Nastase.
The party’s objectives will include demands formulated by the protesters. “I’m very glad that this absolutely natural meeting between the team of the PFP and the protest movement occurred. I think there will be established synergy. After December 13, it will be a different party. This party will be built on other principles and surely the People’s Force will be applied with dignity and truth after the congress,” said the PFP deputy chairman Alexandru Slusari.
According to the secretary of the Great National Assembly Council Chiril Motpan, this party is the only one in Moldova’s history that emerged from the people. “The Platform “Dignity and Truth” didn’t aim to become a political party. The decision to create this entity derived from the people’s wishes,” he stated.
The PFP’s congress will examine the report of the party’s chairman concerning the activity of the PFP following the worsening of the socioeconomic situation in the country and of the political crisis. The participants in the Congress will discuss the current situation in Moldova, possibilities of strengthening the anti-oligarchic and pro-European forces and particular proposals regarding the party’s strategy at the current development stage of the country.
