PLDM asks CC to pronounce on dismissal of government

The MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) requested the Constitutional Court (CC) to pronounce on the possibility of dismissing the government by a no-confidence motion based on allegations of corruption that haven’t been substantiated, IPN reports.

Liberal-Democratic MP Stefan Creanga said the PLDM also asked the Court to rule if Parliament can adopt a no-confidence motion based on allegations of corruption against a person that holds the post of Prime Minister or is a member of the government in the absence of information about reasonable suspicions in this regard from the prosecution bodies.

According to the authors of the challenge, it is absolutely necessary for the CC to pronounce in detail on the two issues so as to exclude the deliberate setting of precedents for the dismissal of the executive based only on unsupported suspicions of acts of corruption. The Court is asked to examine the challenge as a matter of urgency.
