The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) did not change its position as regards the candidate for the post of Prime Minister after the March 10 meeting of the party’s National Political Council and insists on the candidacy of Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The party’s leaders said they didn’t discuss candidates for premiership in the meeting. However, the deputy chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet said the only candidate for this post remains Vlad Filat. “He is the candidate for the position of Prime Minister. We took such a decision and will obey it,” said the party’s deputy chairman.
Valeriu Strelet also said that the former colleagues from the Alliance for European Integration – the Liberals and the Democrats – will be invited to designate negotiators to the talks for overcoming the political crisis. “The platform for discussions must exclude conditions. We hope that the talks will be opened and the result will be positive. By this call, we urge our colleagues to delegate negotiators,” said the political.
The Filat Government fell in a no-confidence vote in Parliament on March 5. In three days, the Cabinet resigned. The head of state is to hold consultations with the parliamentary groups and designate a candidate for the post of Premier.
