PLDM leader reiterates necessity of forming majority coalition with PL

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) understands the necessity and is ready to act in concert with the Liberal Party (PL), the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

The chairman of the PLDM argued that such a move is required by the geopolitical situation in the region. “We need a majority vote in Parliament not for the PLDM, but for the country’s benefit. It’s not excluded that the war in Ukraine will extend and those green people will appear in Transnistria too. What is going on in Gagauzia should not be regarded as a show that is to be looked at. We must make sure that Gagauzia does not become the platform for that invasion. We must ensure the country’s information and economic security. We need stability,” said Vlad Filat.

He also said that there is no alliance with the Communists as these only voted the executive bodies of Parliament and the Government. “I wanted the Liberals to be in their place. We had to form this minority coalition. We cannot leave the hospitals without medicines or allow the dollar to cost 100 lei,” he stated.

Asked about the visit paid by Vlad Plahotniuc and Iurie Leanca to the PL’s head office on the eve of the vote to confirm the Leanca Government in Parliament, Vlad Filat said he found out about this visit not long before it was made. “They didn’t inform me and didn’t ask for my advice. I also didn’t know about the offers the two made to the Liberals. In fact, I made everything possible not to hamper the negotiation process,” he stated.
