PLDM, PDM, PL discuss investiture of Government

The leaders of the three parties that negotiate the formation of a ruling coalition took a break in the discussions held today, July 20. Before going to the head offices of parties, these said they are now agreeing the investiture of the Government. The negotiations will continue this evening, IPN reports.

The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said the discussions themselves were finished and they are now agreeing technical details. “We didn’t set the day when we will sign the agreement. We agreed that we will sign it when all things are clear,” he stated.

The chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu told the journalists that the smallest details are now being discussed. They prepare the Government investiture procedure and calculate the votes that the future executive can get.

The PL’s leader Mihai Ghimpu said that candidates for ministries haven’t been yet examined. It depends on who and what ministry will control. The appointment of ministers is the next stage. “We distribute the portfolio according to the number of votes gained in the parliamentary elections. We will convene the political bureau to discuss the content of the accord,” he stated.

The negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority were started at the end of June. The three leaders earlier said they agreed that the post of head of state will not be distributed and a referendum to amend the Constitution so that it allows for the direct election of the President, by the people, will be held in order to avoid a political stalemate in the future.
