PLDM requests PGO to start criminal case against NAC employees

The Liberal Democratic Party says the disclosure of the telephone conversations of a number of officials is a serious violation of the law. The party’s position was stated by the deputy chairman of the PLDM Vadim Pistrinciuc in a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PLDM requested the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) to start a criminal case against the employees of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) who illegally tapped the phones and called on the law enforcement bodies to restore the rule of law and ensure the people’s security. “Using such a state institution as the National Anticorruption Center for illegal purposes, for starting criminal cases by order, wiretapping, exerting pressure and political blackmail, is a flagrant violation of the Constitution. Tapping the phones of protected persons with the aim of manipulation reveals the Center’s docility to the interests of a clan,” stated Vadim Pistrinciuc. The PLDM condemns the steps taken by the NAC and its administration that, according to Vadim Pistrinciuc, not only fulfils political orders, but also resorted to such diversion actions as wiretapping and forging. This shows that the NAC’s administration and its employees fulfill political orders and carry out illegal activities. On February 18, a number of media outlets received recordings of telephone conversations between Nicolae Vicol and a number of government officials, including Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Valeriu Strelet, and Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean. The discussions concerned economic entities, carrying out of inspections, imposing of fines and other subjects.
