The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) decided to withdraw from the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI). The announcement was made by the party’s leader, Prime Minister Vlad Filat in a press briefing on February 13, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Filat said he wants to negotiate a new agreement on the AEI, which would exclude the oligarchic principles. The PLDM will continue to support the European integration policy and is against early elections. According to the politician, the situation created in the country cannot be perpetuated. “Any attempt of political blackmail, any attempt to cause early elections must be stopped immediately. I will no longer tolerate using the state institutions in somebody’s interests,” said the leader of the PLDM. Vlad Filat stressed he will make effort to keep the AEI, but not at all costs. “I will accept no compromise as regards the welfare of the people. Many consider that this is a political struggle. This is not a struggle between parties, but a battle for the country’s future. Those who fight for their own pockets are on the other side. I call on the colleagues from the alliance and the opposition to stop this immorality together,” he said. He also said that he assumes a part of the blame for the created situation. “I tolerated the behavior of certain persons for too long and made concessions. While we ruled, others used the AEI as a screen to hush up their true temper. I thought they can get rid of these ‘manners’, but I was wrong. The Council of the Alliance wants to decide everything, reducing the role of the Government and Parliament to simple fulfillers,” said the Premier. The press disseminated lately information about the disagreements existing between the Liberal-Democrat Vlad Filat and the Democrat Vlad Plahotniuc. The Premier insisted that Vlad Plahotniuc’s behavior is Communist-like. He resorts to political blackmail and wants to appropriate all the state institutions. Vlad Filat said that Plahotniuc bought a place in politics and now wants to buy the whole country.
