The police detained a 38-year-old man from Chisinau who is suspected of attempting to put 5 kilograms of marijuana into circulation, Info-Prim Neo reports. The police followed the man and stopped the taxi into which he got. He had ten packets of marijuana in his bag. On the black market, that quantity could be sold for about 80,000 lei. The content of the packets was taken to the laboratory for examination. The police are taking steps to identify other persons involved in the production and sale of marijuana. The man faces up to six years in jail. According to the General Police Commissariat, last year there were identified 673 drug-related offenses. A number of 623 legal cases over such offenses were sent to court.
