Anticorruption officers had to fire warning shots to arrest a policeman accused of asking €1,000 bribe from a man for helping this escape punishment. It happened on Mihai Eminescu St in Chisinau, IPN reports

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the denouncer called the national anticorruption line and related that several days ago he was stopped by a police patrol because he crossed the street at the red traffic lights and was driving under the influence. After being tested, he was escorted home by the police officer who asked €1,000 from him for escaping punishment.

On December 13, the police officer was stopped when he was being passed on the money. As he tried to run away, the anticorruption officers opened fire and then caught him. He faces at most ten years in jail.

More than 30 police officers were arrested for acts of corruption so far this year.
