“The political reconfiguration of Parliament may be the price of the three votes that the ruling alliance needs to elect the head of state. This means that the government in Moldova will be changed,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the chairman of the PLDM, said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
In a discussion with the press, Vlad Filat said he does not believe that the PCRM will give these votes for the AEI to remain in power.
“We accepted the date of elections and not only accepted, but voted in favor of it. Our alliance partners assumed again the commitment to adopt the necessary laws, which are many and important,” said Vlad Filat.
According to him, the date of December 16 was agreed in the closed-door meeting of the AEI leaders held on December 1. “This hurry is justified as there is a package of important laws that wasn’t yet adopted. Having a common position with the other two parties of the AEI, we accepted this date, but will be very attentive to the political processes that will take place in Parliament until December 16,” said Vlad Filat.
A new attempt to elect the head of state will be made on December 16. Under the Constitution, the President is elected by at least 61 votes. The AEI parties hold 58 seats, the PCRM – 39, while the group of the Socialists – 3. There is also the unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea.
