The Russian Federation’s acts influence the European course of Moldova and thus the European integration of Moldova must be the key objective of Romania, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said in an interview with digi24.ro, IPN reports.
The Romanian official noted the situation in the region was destabilized by Russia’s acts, either the illegal annexation of Crimea or the support provided to the separatists. “Moldova is the most important thing as the pressure exerted by Russia surely influences its path to the EU,” said Victor Ponta.
He also said that the danger to which Moldova is exposed is related to the possible winning of the November elections by the Communist Party as this thing would destabilize the process of Moldova joining the EU.
“The Government and Parliament of Moldova took clear decisions. They are on a good road, to Europe, which goes through Romania. Evidently, in November this road can be stopped if the Communist Party wins the elections. In August, I want to release the first cubic meter of gas together with Premier Leanca. The works at kindergartens are close to an end. We will also inaugurate the SMURD service in Balti. Today we approved the last necessary financial resources. This means more than nice words. It means a clear signal that Romania does concrete things for their life. This way, the pro-European forces have the chance to say that Romania does more than the others for Moldova. The abolition of visas was the greatest effort,” stated Victor Ponta.
