Marin Gospodarenco was discharged from the post of director of the National Bureau of Statistics in the May 18 meeting of the Cabinet, at the suggestion of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
“I sought this dismissal. We discussed this subject in the previous meeting when we ascertained the absence of the analysis of census data,” stated the Premier. He noted he heard that the data from the inquiry will start to be compared with the census data on May 19, even if the agreement he reached with the administration of the Bureau was different.
“For me, such an attitude is not clear. If we had an agreement and set a date, we must move on. Over 80 million lei was spent and there are no results. I asked the Financial Inspectorate to verify the data. This identified irregularities in holding tender contests and cases of misuse of the money intended for the census. I will request the Prosecutor General’s Office to examine the identified violations,” said Pavel Filip.
In the same meeting, Anatolie Munteanu was appointed as Deputy Minister of Justice. Earlier, he served as a parliamentary ombudsman, while now works at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Also, Stanislav Rusu was dismissed from the post of deputy director general of the Tourism Agency based on his application and was named as the Agency’s director general
Moldova’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gheorghe Leuca was also appointed as Ambassador to Georgia, with residence in Baku.
