PPEM nominates candidate for President

The members of the National Council of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) pleaded for fielding the own candidate for the presidential elections and for continuing strengthening the party’s team at central level and in the country’s districts. Thus, the National Council chose Iurie Leanca as a candidate for President of Moldova by a unanimous vote, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the party, there was also discussed the issue of designating a common candidate for the presidential elections, with special emphasis on the candidate’s profile and experience. The Council members said the consultations with the pro-European opposition forces should be continued so as to coordinate particular actions in the context of the presidential elections without excluding the possibility of proposing a common candidate at a certain stage.

“The new Head of State must help depoliticize Moldovan society. He must not only think geopolitically, but must also make effort to unite the people around the idea of Moldova’s renaissance. I think the PPEM has chances because we have what other parties do not have – a team devoted to the cause of improving the living conditions for the people and of making them stay at home,” stated Iurie Leanca.
