Representatives of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) say other important state-owned enterprises will be privatized in October-November after the airline Air Moldova. The party expresses its concern about the current government’s intention to resort to extremely contradictory privatization procedures and about the complete lack of transparency, IPN reports.
“It is a screen behind which a major theft is hidden,” PPPDA vice president Alexandru Slusari told a news conference. According to him, the goal is not to optimize the work of these enterprises and to collect more money into the budget, but to buy them at derisory prices.
According to the PPPDA, the state put up for sale 85% of the shares in SA “Gara Nord” (“North Bus Station”). The selling price was set at slightly over 18 million lei. The total value of the company’s assets exceeds 37 million lei. Last year the enterprise made a net profit of about 0.5 million lei. In 2016 this profit was slightly over 1 million lei. The debts of SA “Gara Nord” total about 7 million lei, but almost half of this sum is indicated as other types of debts, without clearly deciphering them. “In such conditions, it is fully inexplicable why the given company should be privatized if it has been profitable at least during the past two years,” said the party’s representatives.
SA “Tutun-CTC” is another enterprise put up for privatization about which there are a number of questions. “The state suggests privatizing this strategic company with assets that total over 390 million lei at the price of only 165 million lei. We warn that last year SA “Tutun CTC” had a net profit of almost 13 million lei. During two years in a row, the company paid dividends totaling over 7 million lei into the state budget. Simultaneously, “Tutun-CTC” reduced its debts from 30 to 18 million lei during one year. There is no plausible justification as to the necessity of privatizing this entity,” said the representatives of the PPPDA.
The party calls on the Government to stop the groundless and dubious privatization and concession of strategic public facilities created by tens of generations of inhabitants of the country.
