The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) considers that the country must follow the example of the vote in Ukraine and fully renew the political class so as to have a new government in a new Moldova, the party’s chairman Alexandru Oleinic said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.

“Last Sunday’s elections in Ukraine brought a radical political change. The new, smaller or larger parties have won, while the allies of former President Viktor Yanukovych polled only 8% of the ballot. The Communists won only 2% of the vote and didn’t thus enter Parliament,” stated Alexandru Oleinic.

He noted that Moldova’s neighboring state brought new parties and new people in power and the PPRM welcomes this radical change. “By their votes, our neighbors chose the country’s integrity. It is a choice against those who want a Ukraine divided into two. It is a lesson for us too. We should also vote for the country’s integrity, for the political forces that unite the country, not divide it between the East and the West,” said Alexandru Oleinic.

The leader of the PPRM also said the elections that will take place in Romania in several days will also bring about a major change given that current President Traian Basescu is completing his last tenure as head of state. “The PPRM recommends its members and sympathizers who have Romanian nationality as well to vote for the candidates who showed respect for Moldova and who didn’t make effort to obtain our votes by populist statements and actions,” he stated.

The politician underlined that there is no connection between their party and the People’s Movement Party of Romania, which has the same symbol as the PPRM – the apple. “We are a new party, with new people who are for a radical political change in Moldova, while Missis Elena Udrea pursues a continuity policy in Romania,” said Alexandru Oleinic.

The PPRM is under No. 12 in the ballot for the November 30 parliamentary elections.
