The voting of the no-confidence motion against the Government could cause a period of financial blockage, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said in Parliament on October 29, before the no-confidence motion tabled by the Socialist and Communist MPs was to be put to the vote. He stated that such initiatives initiated by the Government as the negotiation of a new memorandum with the IMF could be postponed if the Cabinet is dismissed as the formation of a new government would last. The adoption of the motion will also represent an act of betrayal before the foreign partners that believe in Moldova’s European future, IPN reports.
Valeriu Strelet noted that the reasons invoked in the no-confidence motion are nothing else but false allegations. He denied having facilitated the activity of some economic entities and having been involved in corruption schemes. He considers that the submission of the motion forms part of the denigration campaign launched against him.
The Premier spoke about the events that took place in 2015 and the problems that became more acute in the period, underlining the bans imposed by Russia, the depreciation of the national currency and the crisis in Ukraine. He noted that among the executive’s key objectives are to promote Moldova’s European course, to restore the relations with the development partners, to stabilize the financial-economic sector, to investigate the committed frauds and to continue the internal unification process.
