Premier seeks ambitious, but realistic plan on construction of Ungheni-Iasi gas pipeline
Prime Minister Vlad Filat requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Ministry of Economy to create a common interministerial working group that will be responsible for monitoring and implementing the project to build the Ungheni-Iasi high pressure gas pipeline, in cooperation with partners from Romania, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Premier said that one of the first steps that should be taken is to agree an ambitious, but realistic plan on the performance of the construction works together with the Romanian side. The pipeline is to become operational in the near future. They should also agree all the aspects regarding the financing of the building works, including with money allocated through the Joint Operational Program Romania – Ukraine- Moldova.
Vlad Filat said the section of the gas pipeline that will go through Moldova will be state property and the Government is to thoroughly monitor its putting into operation.
On June 6, the Government approved the constitution of a preliminary research commission that will declare the construction works on the pipeline as public utility works of national interest. The commission will be headed by Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac. Among its members will be Deputy Minister of Finance Victor Barbaneagra, director general of the Land Relations Agency Anatolie Ghilas, the head of Ungheni district Iurie Toma, and others.
The Prime Minister instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar to hasten the drafting of the work plan on the construction of the 400 kW interconnection power line.
