President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree today, July 20, awarding the title of People’s Artist to actor, writer and playwright Gheorghe Urschi in recognition of “achievements in his work of creation and merits in the development of the satirical-humoristic genre and contribution to promoting moral and spiritual values”, Info-Prim Neo reports. President’s spokesman Vlad Turcanu told a press briefing that the date when Gheorghe Urschi will be handed the title is unknown yet, as such procedures require time. Yesterday, July 19, Nicolae Timofti confered the Emeritus Person title on former Speaker Alexandru Mosanu for “outstanding contribution to the process of national renaissance, important merits in promoting democratic values, for prodigious methodic-didactic and scientific activity”.
