Prime Minister Vlad Filat said those who dismissed the Government through the censure motion must assume the consequences of possible early elections. He also said the fact that President Nicolae Timofti is threatened with dismissal is worrisome. According to him, this will be an attack not only on the head of state, but also on the whole system of government based on the Constitution, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Referring to the Democrats’ invitation to initiate negotiations this evening, Vlad Filat said that when you invite somebody to talks, you do not impose conditions. The invited one is at least consulted. “I found out about the invitation from the press. The PLDM delegated negotiators and the talks must be held between negotiators, not between party leaders, especially because certain persons are very heated the last few days,” he stated, adding that the PLDM will make everything possible for a compromise to be reached.
As to the meeting he had with the head of state after the Parliament’s sitting, Vlad Filat said that they didn’t discuss the issue of candidates. The head of state is to hold consultations with the parliamentary groups on the afternoon of March 8.
Vlad Filat also said that he will not tolerate the hot air of some of the politicians, especially when they demand that the PLDM should put forward another candidate for premiership. “They can suggest something else tomorrow – that they will cooperate with the PLDM only if the party’s leader is dismissed,” he stressed.
The legislative body gave a vote of no confidence to the Government on March 5. The executive will tender its resignation within three days. Afterward, a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister is to be identified.
