President Nicolae Timofti is initiating consultations with the parliamentary groups in a move to select a candidate for the post of Prime Minister, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

On January 13, the head of state will have consultations with the members of the parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists of Moldova.

The President’s actions are in accordance with Article 98 of Moldova’s Constitution. After the candidate for premiership is designated by the head of state, he/she will ask for the Parliament’s vote of confidence for the government program and the members of the Cabinet within 15 days.
