President was elected by humiliation, pressure and intimidation, Communist MPs

The head of state was elected by humiliation, pressure and intimidation, said the three lawmakers of the Communist faction who came to the special sitting of the legislature to monitor the voting process, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We convinced ourselves that this project is a farce. We saw that the head of state wasn’t elected according to the legal procedure. The MPs did not vote freely. They were pressed and intimidated. It’s a shame,” said Sergiu Sarbu. He also said that the secrecy of the vote was not respected. There was only one polling booth, not two as required. The tables from where the lawmakers took the ballots were situated behind the booth. “At the entrance to the booth and at the exit, there was by one MP who monitored the situation so that the voter did not stay too long in the booth,” said Sergiu Sarbu. His colleague Artur Reshetnikov said that all the Moldovans witnessed the final configuration of the totalitarian regime. “Such a President will not be recognized by the Moldovan people. His mandate will not be valid without the people’s support,” he stated, adding that the social march staged by the PCRM will start at 13.30.
