Proofs found by prosecutors confirm part of Ilan Shor’s depositions

The evidence found by the prosecutors and officers of the National Anticorruption Center following searches performed within the case that involves Liberal-Democratic MP Vlad Filat confirms a part of the depositions made by the denouncer. The Prosecutor General’s Office said the prosecutors are examining a number of documents accumulated within the investigation so as to formulate the indictment. Several witnesses were summoned for questioning in this case, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat was arrested on October 15 on charges of passive corruption and influence peddling. He is suspected of receiving financial resources and property to the value of US$250 million from businessman Ilan Shor for providing different services. At this stage, the prosecutors possess evidence that a part of the money provided as bribe comes from the defrauded banks.

If he is found guilty, the Lib-Dem will serve up to 15 years in jail and will be fined 160,000 to 200,000 lei. He will also be banned from holding particular public posts or performing particular activities for a period of 10 to 15 years.
