Activists and supporters of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Wednesday mounted a protest before the Parliament Building, saying they want other politicians to govern the country, IPN reports.
“Antimafie” leader Sergiu Mocanu said the people want independent justice, a European prosecutor general named with the consent of the European Commission and that Filat, Plahotniuc and Voronin should be jailed.
“The current Parliament is the hostage of Plahotniuc and Filat, who should be brought to justice and we are here to ensure this justice. We no longer believe that this political class can generate a stable government in the interests of the Moldova people,” stated Sergiu Mocanu.
One of the activists said the chaos witnessed by Moldova suits those who are in power because they can now steal billions of lei from banks and can promote their interests, but the people are tired of political games.
Protester Vasile Fotescu, who is a university teacher, said he is dissatisfied with what is happening in Moldova, while the candidate for premiership Chiril Gaburici is nothing but a marionette in the hands of the oligarchs and he will be unable to improve the situation in the country.
The protest coincided with the Parliament sitting where the MPs are to give a vote of confidence to the government program and the new Cabinet.
