Protesters who hindered meeting of security commission identified
The protesters who blocked the work of the parliamentary commission on security, defense and public order at the start of February were identified and will be penalized, announced unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea, who is a member of the commission. On March 28, the commission questioned Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu and Deputy Prosecutor Andrei Pantea. The two refused to make statements for the press, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After the meeting, Mihai Godea said that according to Alexei Roibu’s report, there were identified 15 protesters, but the February 3 meeting was hindered by about 30 persons. “I think this is an unordinary attitude. I told my colleagues that the Ministry of the Interior and the Prosecutor General’s Office humiliated us. They did not do their job. I will insist on putting forward a simple motion on the crime situation in the country, which would oblige the Government to debate this issue in a special meeting and to inform Parliament,” said the MP.
According to Mihai Godea, there are institutions that do not fulfill their duties and the human rights and freedoms are not respected. The motion should lead to the addressing of this issue. The signatures of 15 lawmakers are needed for the motion to be passed.
The commission’s head Alexandru Stoianoglo, of the Democratic parliamentary group, said he was satisfied with the work of the law enforcement bodies. “There were identified the culprits. The case will be soon sent to court. The missing information will be provided within two weeks,” said the MP.
On February 3, a number of persons entered the room where the commission on security, defense and public order held a meeting and blocked its work for several minutes, demanding the dissolution of Parliament.
