Prut water level rises again

The rain in the Carpathians caused the Prut water level to increase in northern Moldova, Emergencies Service press officer Liliana Puscasu told Info-Prim Neo. From Tuesday to Wednesday morning, the level of water in Briceni and Lipcani had risen by 55 centimeters, while in Sirauti, Hancesti – by 64 centimeters. At the same time, the water level in the reservoir Costesti-Stanca fell by 12 centimeters, while the releases this morning decreased from 750 to 650 cubic meters per second. The water level on the Glodeni-Falesti segment fell by 16-20 centimeters, while in Hancesti - by 2-4 centimeters. The village Nemteni remains a risk area. The possibility of breaking the barrage in Leuseni is to be considered today. In Cahul, the Prut water level went up by 7-14 centimeters. The barrages in the villages located in the Prut meadow in southern Moldova are being reinforced. The level of the Nistru water also rises. In increased by 35 centimeters between Criuleni and Vadul lui Voda, by 26 centimeters in Vadul lui Voda and by 33 centimeters between Anenii Noi and Stefan Voda. The barrages in the risk areas, like Vadul lui Voda, Varnita and Telita, are being reinforced with sacks of sand. A 16-year-old boy drowned in Tochile-Raducani, Leova. He went to swim in a channel near the village on Tuesday evening. Allegedly, he hit his head when he jumped as he did not come out.
