If mayoral elections were held in Balti municipality next Sunday, 15% of the respondents of a poll would not know who to vote for. 6% would not take part in elections. Consequently, each fifth interviewed person would be unable to make a conscious choice. 31.8% of those surveyed would vote for Alexandr Usatyi (PSRM), while 28.9% for Nicolai Grigorishin (PPPN), shows the poll conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova. This was presented in a news conference on May 7, IPN reports.
According to the poll, 5.9% of those surveyed would vote for Arina Spataru (PPPDA), 3.5% for Elena Gritsko (independent), 3.3% for Pavel Verejanu (Shor Party), 2.4% for Simion Gutu (PAS), 2.1% for Sergiu Burlacu (PUN), while 1.4% for Oleg Topolnitski (Russian-Slavic Party).
Of the respondents who would be able to make a conscious choice, 40.1% would vote for Alexandr Usatyi, 36.4% for Nicolai Grigorisin, 7.5% for Arina Spataru, 4.4% for Elena Gritsko, 4.1% for Pavel Verejanu, 3.0% for Simion Gutu, 2.6% for Sergiu Burlacu, while 1.8% for Oleg Topolnitski.
The problems that concern the population of Balti municipality the most are: poor state of the roads, ecological situation, high level of corruption, local economic crisis, poverty and defective local management.
According to the respondents, the new mayor of Balti municipality should first of all repair the roads and sidewalks, deal with the ecological state of the city and fight corruption.
The poll was carried out during April 21 and May 2 and covered a sample of 600 respondents. The margin of sampling error is + 4%.
