More than 20,000 people took part in the march “For Moldova” staged by the Party of Socialists (PSRM) in Ungheni, Soroca, Edinet, Anenii-Noi and Cahul districts, according to the organizers. These said that the people demonstrated for statehood and for the Moldovan language and history and to demand early parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential elections. The next march for statehood was set to take place in Chisinau on May 15, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the party, the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon took part in the marches mounted in Edinet and Ungheni districts. This noted that the oligarchs took control of Moldova seven years ago and destroyed the country with intent. They destroyed the economy and subdued the state institutions and now want the Republic of Moldova to disappear as a state. The government propagates unionism even if this is against the people’s will.

Zinaida Grecheanyi, who heads the Socialist parliamentary group, thanked the people who supported the party in the parliamentary elections. “The PSRM has the largest group in Parliament and this is your merit. We thank you for supporting us. Victory will be ours,” she stated.

The participants in the match “For Moldova” in the five districts adopted a resolution by which they commit themselves to stop what they called ‘monstrous coalition of the oligarchs and unionists’. These demand that the Cabinet should resign, first of all Minister of Education Corina Fusu, Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru, Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu and other government officials who openly promote the unionist ideology, and that these should be held accountable.

The resolution calls on the MPs to ban the activity of any political forces or public movements that challenge the sovereignty, independent and neutrality of the Republic of Moldova. It also calls upon the international community to openly pronounce against the unionist-oligarchic regime in Moldova.
