The head of the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council Ion Ceban, in a press briefing immediately after the closing of polling places, said that the Democratic Party will take control of the capital city and Maia Sandu is to blame for this, IPN reports.

“The capital city will fall into the hands of the Democratic Party, namely of Vlad Plahotniuc, and this is the blame of Maia Sandu because she called on the voters to boycott the referendum. Everyone should understand that the city does not belong to a party or another. It belongs to everyone. It is nonsense boycotting a democratic exercise according to a political reason,” stated Ion Ceban.

The Socialist councilor said he doubts that Dorin Chirtoaca will return to the City Hall after today and urged the Liberal to tender his resignation. He thanked the residents of Chisinau who took part in the referendum, those who have a civic position and those who said “no” to disorder.

The voter turnout at 9pm was 17.53%. The referendum cannot be validated.
