Rankings of most influential politicians without surprises

The June rankings of the 50 most influential politicians generally contains the same politicians, members of the government and high-ranking officials as the previous months. The rankings are compiled by the Institute for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon”, IPN reports.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca tops the rankings. In the month when Moldova achieved great results, on June 27, the position of leader occupied by Iurie Leanca is perfectly explainable.

The second place is taken by the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat. As the leader of the most influential political party in Moldova, Vlad Filat ranks second among the most influential Moldovan politicians.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman ranked third. In the month when the Association Agreement with the EU was signed, the foreign minister couldn’t be absent from among the top three politicians.

Head of Parliament Igor Corman is the fourth. By his institutional position and eminent political performance, Corman forms part of the most influential politicians of Moldova

President Nicolae Timofti comes fifth. He climbed one spot from May given his more evident role of stabilizing factor in the Moldovan politics.

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca went up to the sixth spot and remains one of the most appreciated politicians in Moldova.

The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin ranks seventh. Regardless of the internal political turbulence through which the Communist Party goes, he remains one of the most influential Moldovan politicians.

Minister of Education Maia Sandu comes eighth. In the Moldovan politics, she has the reputation of a reformist minister. The reformation process in education initiated by Sandu, which arouses controversy among politicians and representatives of the mass media, pushes her up among the ten most influential politicians in Moldova.

The first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc climbed four spots compared with May. Though he does not have administrative resources, Plahotniuc is considered by experts a very influential politician. The fact that he comes before the Democratic leader Marian Lupu, who ranks tenth, is symptomatic.
