Reformist Communists said that Vladimir Voronin wants to remove them from the electoral race because they represent a voting alternative of the Party of Communists (PCRM). In a news conference at IPN, the leader of the Communist Reformist Party Ruslan Popa said the car by which he travelled to meetings with voters remained without brake and specialists established that somebody sabotaged the braking system.

Ruslan Popa noted that in 2010, he and a number of his supporters didn’t want to vote for the PCRM because it turned into an oligarchic party, but voted for it because there was no alternative. Now that the Communist Reformist Party was created, the people have an alternative and the Party of Communists lost over 30% in favor of the Reformists.

The leader of the Communist Reformists also said that when the party that he heads was founded, they decided that this party should have the Communist symbols. The ‘hammer and sickle’ are the symbols of the Communist movement, not of the PCRM. But the Party of Communists registered them as a trademark and the Communist Reformist Party had to adopt the ‘hammer, star and ear’ as its symbol. Nevertheless, the PCRM sued them, demanding that the Communist Reformist Party be removed from the electoral race for using false information.

Ruslan Popa called on the undecided people to vote for the Communist Reformist Party because the party’s young team aims to improve things in the country, not to steal as other governments did. No coalitions should be formed in Parliament as these later divide the spheres of influence between them. Moreover, the Cabinet must consist strictly of specialists and the posts of ministers should not be distributed to party members.

According to Ruslan Popa, the Communist Reformist Party spent only about 36,000 lei in the election campaign as it does not belong to oligarchs, who spread all kinds of posters and advertisements all over the country.

Ruslan Popa called upon the people who do not want to vote for any of the parties because they are disappointed in everyone to vote for the Communist Reformist Party and offer them the chance to govern the country so as to correct the mistakes made by the previous governments.
