Representatives of civil society and well-known artists ask that the hearings in the case of ex-Premier Vlad Filat at the Appeals Court should be public, IPN reports.
The signatories of the call to the Appeals Court judges say it is now opportune for this case to be examined in the presence of the press as the trial holds special interest for the whole society.
“We demand that the hearings should be public given that neither the prosecution nor the accused have what to hide, as the parties declared. It is important for the whole society and the mass media to know the elements, proofs and pseudo-proofs in this case. We plead for a free trial as it is normal to be so in a really democratic country,” says the call.
Among the signatories are Stefan Petrache, Nicolae Botgros, Vlad Curbet, Arcadie Suceveanu, Sandu Grecu, Antip Taralunga, Eugenia David, Mircea Ciobanu, Pavel Parfeni, Natalia Barbu, Vasile Barbu, Valy Boghean, Ion Paladi, Mihai Curagau, Jan Cucuruzac, Andrei Burac, Mihai Damian, Irina Rusu, Ninela Caranfil, Virgiliu Margineanu, Lilia Cazacu, Viorel Cornescu, Arcadie Racila, Igor Mitreanu, Tudor Carapascal, Vasile Casu, Sergei Finiti, Aliona Oleinic, and Ludmila Gheorghita.
