The Comrat Election Commission is to approve the results of the March 22 Governor elections and to submit the final report on the election outcome to the Comrat Appeals Court, which will have ten days, of the reception of the report, to validate the results, IPN reports.
The deputy head of the Comrat Election Commission Oxana Nedealco has told IPN that after the Appeals Court validates the election outcome, the Commission will issue the future Bashkan with the relevant permit and will stage the official installation.
Oxana Nedealco said that 25 complaints were submitted to the Commission on the election day. These refer mainly to campaigning activities in favor of candidates performed on March 22. The disappearance of about 100 ballots at a polling place in Comrat and the damaging of the voting stamp at the polling place in Dezghingea are investigated by the law enforcement bodies.
According to the preliminary data made public by the Comrat Election Commission, Irina Vlah polled 51.01% of the ballot and won thus the Governor elections.
Simultaneously with the Governor elections, elections to choose the own representatives to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were held in the constituencies Congaz and Gaidar. In Gaidar, the only candidate Zinaida Popaz won a sufficient number of votes, while in Congaz, a second round of voting between Vitalie Chiurcciu and Ivan Telpiz will be held on April 5.
