Political commentator Roman Mihaeș said the Bloc ACUM and the PSRM had the freedom to come to terms and to form a coalition, but the fact that an alliance wasn’t formed is yet positive. “We could have entered a dangerous game that the Bloc ACUM wouldn’t have been able to control,” he stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
According to Roman Mihăeș, if snap elections are held, a bloc of unionist parties could appear and this could enter Parliament and the Bloc ACUM would lose in popularity. “I think a unionist bloc would have bigger chances judging by the negotiations between the Bloc ACUM and the PSRM. The Bloc’s decision to vote a Socialist candidate as Speaker will also lead to losses of votes. On the other hand, the Socialists could appear in elections in a better form as they will speculate on the inherent social problems that will emerge in the period. In the absence of financing, the Socialists can hope for a better score. The PDM would not lose seats of MP, if only two-three, but could even gain more seats,” stated the commentator.
Liberal Party president Dorin Chirtoacă said that judging by the statements made by President Igor Dodon after the meeting of the Political Council of the PSRM, Moldova does not have a President as he does what he is told to do by the leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc. “If we had had a President now that Plahotniuc can do nothing to him because he cannot be suspended in the absence of a majority in Parliament and he cannot hold him accountable by blackmailing him for all the privatization transactions performed together, Dodon, if he had wanted to get rid of Plahotniuc’s influence even by forcing snap elections, he would have gone to Parliament to change the electoral system and to vote the country de-oligarchization laws. Instead, he invents all kind of stupid things,” stated the politician.
After the Political Council of the PSRM, the unofficial leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said the snap elections are the most veritable solution.
