Romanian delegation praises Chisinau’s European effort
Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat on Tuesday, February 15, met with a delegation of Romanian Senate’s foreign policy commission, led by Titus Corlatean. During the meeting, Filat stressed the importance of the parliamentary aspect of Romanian-Moldovan relationship, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to government’s press service, the prime minister expressed his support for extending economic collaboration, which could provide a strong base for the further development of bilateral relationships.
Vlad Filat emphasized the need to make use of opportunities offered within regional partnerships and to develop common projects in key spheres such as agriculture, energy and infrastructure.
The head of the Romanian delegation, Titus Corlatean, assured that Romania was ready to assist Moldova’s European integration bid, especially in adapting national legislation to EU standards. The president of Romanian Senate’s foreign policy commission said the Bucharest lawmaking body could offer the Chisinau Parliament the necessary legislative base, already adapted and accepted by the European community.
The official also remarked Moldova’s successes in its European integration effort, such as the Plan of actions regarding visa regime liberalization, initiating the negotiations regarding the Free Trade Agreement with EU and other achievements within the Eastern Partnership. “The manner of Moldovan government’s actions was highly appreciated, considering the professionalism it showed. That was felt in the relationship with Romania as well”, Corlatean said.
Romanian senators are on a visit in Chisinau between February 13 and 16. They have been invited by Igor Corman, head of the parliamentary commission of foreign policy and European integration.
