Romania’s EU accession experience is invaluable for the Republic of Moldova, declared Speaker Igor Grosu after a meeting in Chisinau with Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, the President of the Romanian Senate.
Grosu said he received from the “good friend of Moldova” Ciucă further assurances of Romania’s full support for our country.
Igor Grosu noted that Moldova and Romania are moving forward in areas such as energy cooperation, one example being the project to build a 400 kV high-voltage power line connecting the Romanian city of Suceava to Balti in Moldova. Also, four more bridges over the Prut River are expected to be built in the next few years.
The Moldovan speaker added that Romania remains the most important trade partner. In this context, he repeatedly expressed his gratitude for the organization of the second Economic Forum under the auspices of the Romanian Royal House, which brought together over 300 foreign companies. “We hope that following such joint events, we will be able to encourage as many foreign investors as possible to come to the Republic of Moldova. We also talked about the situation in the region and agreed that through joint efforts we will do everything possible to preserve peace and stability”, added Igor Grosu.
Also today, Igor Grosu and Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă planted trees at the “Alexandru Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden.
Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă is visiting Chisinau during March 1 and 2. The official is accompanied by MEPs Siegfried Mureșan and Rareș Bogdan, as well as the state secretary of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, Adrian Dupu.
