Ruling alliance is close to falling apart, analyst

The Alliance for European Integration could change its format after the June 5 local elections, considers political analyst Anatol Taranu. In a news conference on May 5, the analyst said the defection from the coalition of important persons like Alexandru Tanase and Mihai Godea may even lead to the dismemberment of the ruling alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports. The expert believes the alliance may have a new political configuration that will be completely different from the present one. “The reformation can happen under a conservative formula, by forming an alliance between the PCRM and a certain party, or under a radical formula, when things will degenerate and the date of new early legislative elections will be set,” said Anatol Taranu. According to the analyst, Mihai Godea chose the most unsuitable moment to leave the PLDM, given the interests of the democratic parties of Moldova, as this move only fuels the PCRM’s propaganda. “The fact that Mihai Godea made statements with a factological substratum aimed at criticizing the ruling alliance turned out to be rather credible. He could have done it long before the start of the election campaign, as Alexandru Tanase did, or could have waited until the election campaign closed,” said the expert. Mihai Godea announced his intention to run independently for mayor of Chisinau on May 3. The next day, he confirmed that he defected from the PLDM. `
