The Russian authorities proposed setting up a working group for overcoming the situation in Ukraine following the ousting of the government in Kiev and the deployment of Russian troops in Crimea. They also suggested voting a new Constitution of Ukraine, declaring Russian official language, alongside Ukrainian, and recognizing Crimea’s right to self-determination, in accordance with the results of the March 16 plebiscite, IPN reports.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the proposal to constitute a working group was already similitude to the United Sates and the European Union. Russia says that it is not the cause of the problems that appeared in Ukraine.
The Russian authorities stated that immediately after the new Constitution is voted, general elections should be held to choose the management bodies of Ukraine. Russia calls upon Ukraine to recognize Crimea’s right to self-determination, in accordance with the results of the March 16 plebiscite, where most of the people voted for joining Russia.
The referendum in Crimea is not recognized by the international community, including Moldova, which supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
