Salaru gives details about Parliament brawl

Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru revealed at a press conference details about the Parliament brawl from yesterday, July 5. According to the Minister, Communist MP Grigore Petrenco tried to hit him, telling him to leave. “I regret that the public must witness inadequate behavior caused by cultural ignorance, on the one hand, and our consistency in reform implementation and corruption combat on the other hand. The fear of truth and the Law makes them [PCRM MPs] embarrassing. I assure that those who broke the legislation during the construction of the Cahul-Giurgiulesti railway segment, and wasted Government money, will be brought to justice. I am sure that the citizens will react adequately to the hooliganism of the Communist MPs and, foremost, of Grigore Petrenco”, stated Anatol Salaru. The Minister said that he regrets that the incident happened during within legislative forum, which is supposed to be a place of civilized debates and behavior. “He tried to start a fight, he wanted to hit me”, said the Minister, adding that he will not sue Grigore Petrenco, because he doesn’t want level with the Communist MP. Anatol Salaru advised the MP to consult a doctor. “Grigore Petrenco had forgotten that yesterday was July 5, not April 7, 2009”, added the Minister. Anatol Salaru was requested to join the Parliament meeting on Thursday, July 5, for debrief on the Cahul-Giurgiulesti railway segment issue; the segment’s activity is temporarily stopped. During the audience, Communist MPs declared that the Minister is corrupt, whereas Anatol Salaru replied likewise. Several Communist MP, including Grigore Petrenco, started a brawl with the Minister, but the conflict did not escalate, because many AIE MPs intervened to stop it.
