A group of local councilors of the Democratic Party (PDM) in Sangerei defected from the party to join the Democratic Action Party (PAD). In a news conference at Info-Prim Neo on Wednesday, they said they are dissatisfied with the fact that ‘reformed’ Communists are promoted as leaders of the local organization of the PDM.
The cause for such a decision is the moral degradation of the Sangerei local organization of the Democratic Party following the appointment of ‘reformed’ Communists to the organization’s administration, said the former head of the Democratic faction on the Sangerei District Council Ion Rosca.
According to the councilors who decided to join the PAD, the former Communists of the PDM reconstructed the vicious system of the Communist Party, which is based on corruption and nepotism, while the decisions at district level in the party are taken by ‘dubious’ persons. The former Democratic councilors consider that only the Democratic Action Party has real chances to eradicate the ‘Communist cancer’ and the system affected by corruption and nepotism that is associated with the Communists.
The three district councilors who left the PDM said they intend to create a faction on the Sangerei District Council, which will be in constructive opposition to the current administration of the district that consists of Liberal-Democrats and Communists.
Three districts councilors of the eight of the PDM, 28 local councilors and over 180 members of the PDM from Sangerei left the party and joined the Democratic Action Party.
