“I voted for Chisinau to become a prosperous city, as it was 15 years ago,” the Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Serafim Urechean said after casting his ballot, IPN reports.

The candidate said he voted for a clean and neat city that will be respected at national and international levels, for greater attention to be given to the elderly people, for the young generations to love their city and to have workplaces so as to remain at home and work for the city to become prosperous.

Serafim Urechean also said the people’s confidence in the local public administration should be restored. Corruption must be rooted out and transparency must be ensured in the local administration. He urged the people to vote with the mind, not based on their emotions.

The candidate came to the polling place accompanied by his wife Larisa. He made the sign of a cross above the ballot box before putting the ballot into it.
