Democratic lawmaker Sergiu Sarbu will be fielded for the post of Deputy Head of Parliament instead of Andrian Candu, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu told the journalists.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Parliament’s Law Division Ion Creanga said that after the faction proposes the candidate, the legal commission for appointments and immunities must give its consent. Afterward, the legislative body is to vote in the candidate. The Deputy Speaker is elected by a majority of votes.

Ion Creanga also said that until the new Deputy Head of Parliament is appointed, Andrian Candu can continue to hold the post for at most 30 days and then must resign.

Andrian Candu was named as Minister of Economy instead of Valeriu Lazar after the latter tendered his resignation.
